District One Committee Structure/Organization

DISTRICT ONE EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

DISTRICT ONE CHAIRMAN

The District One Chairman, a member of the District One Committee, is to be nominated by the new District One Committee Members after the annual meeting in April of every year. The District One Chairperson will be elected at the May Committee meeting.  Their term of office shall be from July 1 until June 30 of every year.

DISTRICT ONE VICE-CHAIRMAN

The Vice-Chairman, a member of the District One Committee, is to be nominated by the new District One Committee Members after the annual meeting in April of every year. The District One Chairperson will be elected at the May Committee meeting.  Their term of office shall be from July 1 until June 30 of every year.

DISTRICT ONE STAFF

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Effectively and efficiently direct, organize, and manage the day-to-day operations of District One; and research, plan, direct, develop, implement, and evaluate all District One tournament procedures for every sport; and, serve as a liaison between District One and the PIAA State Office

Twelve (12) month position. Employee of the PIAA.  Salary and Benefits to be established by the District One Committee.  Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the District One Committee. 

ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Assist the District One Executive Secretary with the effective and efficient management of the day-to-day operations of District One; and, assist the District One Executive Secretary with researching, planning, directing, developing, implementing, and evaluating District One’s playoff plans for all sports; and, successfully perform all business related functions and work in conjunction with the District One Treasurer in an effort to meet generally accepted accounting principles.

Twelve (12) month position. Employee of the PIAA.  Salary and Benefits to be established by the District One Committee.  Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the District One Committee.

TREASURER

District One Treasurer is to be nominated by the District One Chairperson and approved by the District One Committee.  The Treasurer is responsible for supervising all payments, deposits of funds and purchase of approved investments.  The Treasurer will review and report the End of Month reports, bank statements, images of all cancelled checks, cash receipt and disbursement reports, general ledger and trail balance reports and any other documents deemed necessary to safe guard District One monies.  Compensation will be determined by the Human Resource Sub-Committee.

RECORDING SECRETARY

Appointed by the District Chairperson.  The Recording Secretary is responsible for documenting the Committee Meeting minutes taken at each regular and special meeting.  The District One Assistant Executive Director will email the minutes to committee members and all member schools within two (2) weeks of the District One meetings.  Note:  Posted minutes are not official until formally approved by the District One Committee at the next regularly scheduled meeting.

League Representatives
Are determined by the number of schools in the respective leagues.A  League / Division that has a membership of four (4) to six (6) member schools shall be entitled to one representative on the District Committee.  A League / Division that has seven (7) or more member schools shall be entitled to two (2) Representatives.

DISTRICT ONE SUB-COMMITTEES

Human Resource Sub-Committee

The purpose of the Human Resources Sub-Committee is to review the Administrative and Support Staff needs of District One, performance expectations, and the salaries, wages, and benefits of the respective Administrative and Support Staff.  Recommendations relative to meeting performance expectations, and salaries, wages, and benefits of the respective Administrative and Support Staff shall be submitted to the District One chairperson for consideration and presentation to the District One Committee.  The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson will serve as ex-officio members of the Human Resources Sub-Committee.  An appointed and approved member of the District One Committee will serve as Chairperson for this sub-committee.  The Human Resources Sub-Committee will be appointed annually by the District One Chairperson in consultation with the Executive Secretary of District One.  The Human Resources Sub-Committee shall meet at the call of either the District One Chairperson or Chairperson of this sub-committee.

Operations Sub-Committee

The purpose of the Strategic Plan Sub-Committee is to review the policies and procedures of the District One Playoffs and the day to day operations of the District One office.  Recommendations regarding the number of individuals and/or teams entering the District One Championship tournaments, playoff venues, financial considerations for all post-season contests and overall operations shall be submitted to the District One chairperson for consideration and presentation to the District One Committee.  The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson will serve as ex-officio members of the Strategic Plan Sub-Committee.  An appointed and approved member of the District One Committee will serve as Chairperson for this sub-committee.  The Strategic Plan Sub-Committee will be appointed annually by the District One Chairperson in consultation with the Executive Secretary of District One.  The Strategic Plan Sub-Committee shall meet at the call of either the District One Chairperson or Chairperson of this sub-committee.
